History

The Foundation is a trust fund managed by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and was established in 1999. But The Sisters' work in Australia began in 1857 on the streets of Sydney and they continue to be a driving force of social justice in Australia.

As well as caring for, protecting and nurturing the most vulnerable in society, the Sisters have managed education projects for young people from all social classes and other vital projects. There are more than 100 Good Samaritan communities throughout Australia as well as in Japan, the Philippines and Kiribati. They stand with the indigenous people of Australia and the women of Japan, Kiribati, and the Philippines.
